MH: Android as Inhuman

Monster Hunter's 5 had four inhuman templates. But the race I wanted to play the most was actually the android, given just a single box of its own and barely mentioned otherwise. So I had to make one.

The android given is actually really close to 400 points -- as they said, roughly equivalent to a hunter. I was aiming for a 200 point template. The creation actually turned out a lot more customizable than I was expecting: the android's way to mental freedom determines a lot of things about it, and I left ways to get back the traits that were dropped that an individual might feel are really crucial to their version of the idea.

You are a robot, built, to imitate human kind. But at some point your programming allowed you to join the other side. Its possible that your creator gave you too much freedom and you broke free, or that you were hacked and reprogrammed. Or even that you are the imitation of a more powerful machine used by the other side. Now you support those you who you were used against.

This Android is missing some classic robot traits, and for good reason! These androids can pass as humans, and while some of them may have indomitable, they all understand human emotions -- they were built for such things.

This android is a good deal weaker than the android presented on MH5 p. 33. See 'why aren't I this strong' in MH 3. Androids under the care of the heroes don't have the kind of access to high tech that the villians generally have. This android is battered and beat up, or scrounged together in the first place. The IQ has been bumped up from the base score in the book because champions in monster hunters really don't have dump stats.

Androids tend to be fond of guns and other high-tech devices. Not only is it thematically appropriate, but androids tend are quick and benefit from the unliving advantage -- they're hard to corner and ranged weapons tend to be less effective against them.
